Willband Creek Park Stewardship
Viewpoint Project
The Abbotsford-Mission Nature Club received a $90,000 donation from Co-op Community Spaces, a funding program supporting recreation, environmental conservation and urban agriculture projects in 2017. The donation permitted us to construct of a new trail, boardwalk and 400-square-foot viewing platform in Willband Creek Park, providing visitors with mountain views and excellent bird-watching opportunities. The wheelchair-accessible platform was designed by local architect Ryan Huston of CHP Architects and engineered by Bill Louwerse of Lang Engineering.
As part of the project, native trees and shrubs were planted in the area, restoring and enhancing wildlife habitat. The viewpoint has become very popular and is used to promote the City and this site as great bird and waterfowl viewing opportunity.
On April 16, 2021, an osprey nesting platform was installed in Willbrand Creek Park — learn more.
Hogan Family Nature Park Adopt-a-Park
The Abbotsford Mission Nature Club helps maintain the Hogan Family Nature Park. The 20 acre park is located on the west side of Bradner Rd a couple of blocks north of the Fraser Hwy at 28631 Debruyne Rd.
The club has a twice annual clean-up day and regular walks through a lovely forest trail, especially during spring wildflower season.
